Venezuela - Danau Maracaibo mengalami pencemaran yang parah. Polusi di sekitar danau ini adalah hasil dari eksploitasi minyak yang berlebihan.

Lapisan tebal kehijauan menutupi sampah dan plastik yang mencemari perairan Danau Maracaibo di Maracaibo, Venezuela, Kamis (10/8/2023).

Danau Maracaibo merupakan salah satu danau terbesar di Amerika Latin.

Polusi di sekitar danau ini adalah hasil dari eksploitasi minyak yang berlebihan selama beberapa dekade.

Selain itu imbas perawatan yang tidak memadai dan kurangnya investasi untuk memperbaiki infrastruktur yang usang membuat danau ini semakin tercemar.

Danau yang tecemar mengakibatkan warga di sekitar danau kekurangan air bersih hingga sulitnya mendapatkan ikan bagi para nelayan.
