Ekuador - Gempa berkekuatan magnitudo 6,8 mengguncang kawasan Ekuador. Sebuah dermaga rusak berat akibat gempa tersebut.

Survei Geologi AS melaporkan gempa berkekuatan sekitar M 6,8 berpusat di lepas pantai, Pantai Pasifik, sekitar 50 mil (80 kilometer) selatan Guayaquil.

Gempa kuat yang mengguncang kota itu merobohkan sejumlah bangunan di sepanjang pantai dan sejauh dataran tinggi Ekuador dan bahkan Peru. Belasan orang dilaporkan tewas dan ratusan orang lainnya luka-luka.

Ekuador sangat rentan terhadap gempa bumi. Pada 2016, gempa yang berpusat lebih jauh ke utara di Pantai Pasifik menewaskan lebih dari 600 jiwa.
