Klaipeda - Kapal perang amfibi AS USS Kearsarge tiba di Klaipeda, Lithuania, Senin (22/8/2022). Angkatan Laut mengatakan kedatangannya tersebut sudah diagendakan.

Kapal perang amfibi AS USS Kearsarge berlabuh di pelabuhan Klaipeda, Lithuania, Senin (22/8/2022).Β Negara ini bertetangga dengan Belarus, sekutu Moskow. Lithuania sangat khawatir dengan Rusia, jika sewaktu-waktu memaksa negaranya kembali ke poros Kremlin.

USS Kearsarge saat bersandar di Lithuania. Kapal ini memiliki panjang 257,3 meter, lebar 60,1 meter, dan tinggi 10,5 meter. Meski dikatakan sebagai kunjungan rutin, kehadiran kapal induk ini memiliki isu penting di perairan Baltik terkait perang di Ukraina.

Komandan USS Kearsarge, Kapten Thomas F. Foster mengatakan bahwa kunjungan ini menunjukkan ikatan kuat antara kedua negara. "Setiap negara Baltik memiliki sesuatu yang kuat untuk dikontribusikan. Dan ketika mereka melakukannya, kekuatan gabungan kami tak tertandingi," kata Foster.
