Penyulam Mesir, Ahmed Othman el-Kassabgy, menjahit rangkaian ayat-ayat Al Qur'an dengan benang emas, di Kairo, Mesir, Rabu (15/6/2022). Keluarga tersebut dipercaya untuk membuat kiswah secara turun menurun sejak abad ke-13.

Ahmed Othman el-Kassabgy dan keluarganya secara turun temurun sudah bertanggung jawab untuk menjahit sebagian kiswah, kain yang digunakan untuk menutupi Ka'bah di Masjidil Haram.

Pembuatan kiswah ini bukan hanya dilakukan oleh keluarga Ahmed, namun juga sejumlah pengrajin di Mesir.

Pengrajin di Mesir sudah terlibat dalam pembuatan kiswah sejak abad ke-13. Kemampuan menenun yang hebat membuat mereka mendapatkan kesempatan tersebut.

Sebelum dimulainya rangkaian musim haji, kiswah yang dibuat di Mesir akan dikirim ke Arab Saudi dengan upacara khusus.
