Hong Kong - Kebijakan karantina ketat di Hong Kong juga berdampak terhadap lingkungan. Penggunaan plastik menjadi masalah baru terkait sampah.

Diberitakan Reuters, Selasa (19/4/2022), Pemerintah Hong Kong membuang sampah lebih dari 2.300 ton setiap hari. Dari jumlah itu, tingkat daur ulang hanya 11 persen.

Plastik menjadi angka penyumbang terbesar terhadap permasalahan sampah. Hal ini terjadi karena di setiap tempat karantina, hampir secara keseluruhan menggunakan plastik untuk menjaga suatu barang tetap steril.

Contohnya, makanan yang akan dihidangkan wajib ditutup plastik. Bahkan, remote ac juga ditutup plastik agar tidak terkontaminasi.
