Turki - Korban tewas dalam banjir bandang dan longsor yang menerjang wilayah Turki bagian utara bertambah menjadi 40 orang.

Seperti dilansir Associated Press, Sabtu (14/8/2021), hujan deras yang mengguyur Provinsi Bartin, Kastamonu dan Sinop yang terletak dekat Laut Hitam sejak Rabu (11/8) waktu setempat telah memicu banjir bandang yang menghancurkan rumah-rumah warga dan memutuskan sedikitnya lima jembatan lokal.

Banjir juga menghanyutkan mobil-mobil serta menggenangi ruas jalanan setempat hingga tidak bisa dilewati. Badan penanggulangan bencana Turki, AFAD, melaporkan sedikitnya 34 orang tewas akibat banjir di wilayah Kastamonu dan enam orang lainnya tewas di Sinop.

Sembilan orang lainnya masih dirawat di rumah sakit di wilayah Sinop dan satu orang lainnya dilaporkan masih hilang di Provinsi Bartin. Namun sejumlah warga setempat menyebutkan via media sosial bahwa ratusan orang masih hilang. Keterangan senada disampaikan oleh seorang anggota parlemen oposisi Turki.

Sekitar 2.250 orang dievakuasi di sejumlah wilayah Turki, dengan beberapa orang diselamatkan dari atap bangunan dengan helikopter. Kebanyakan warga yang mengungsi kini ditempatkan di asrama-asrama mahasiswa setempat.

Para pakar iklim secara tegas menyatakan bahwa perubahan iklim telah memicu peristiwa cuaca ekstrem saat dunia menghangat karena adanya pembakaran batu bara, minyak dan gas alam. Bencana alam diperkirakan akan terjadi lebih sering saat Bumi semakin menghangat. Namun pakar-pakar Turki menyebut bahwa gangguan terhadap sungai-sungai dan proyek konstruksi yang tidak tepat juga berkontribusi terhadap kerusakan parah akibat banjir di negara ini.
