Meksiko - Anak-anak di daerah terpencil Meksiko dilatih menggunakan senjata api untuk mempertahankan diri dari kekejaman sindikat kejahatan dan narkoba.

Sejak 2019, setidaknya sembilan orang tewas akibat bentrok dengan kartel narkoba di desa itu, Los Ardillos.

Namun, keluhan penduduk setempat tak pernah didengar para pejabat.

Kini, desa itu memutuskan untuk melatih sekitar 30 anak untuk angkat senjata. Namun, senjata itu hanya replika yang terbuat dari kayu.

Tahun lalu, sejumlah anak di desa lain juga sempat melakukan latihan angkat senjata semacam ini. Namun, Presiden Meksiko, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, mengkritik latihan itu.

Meski demikian, para warga desa menekankan bahwa latihan ini merupakan cermin keputusasaan masyarakat atas kurangnya perhatian pemerintah terhadap kejahatan yang dilakukan kartel-kartel narkoba.

Di kawasan Guerrero sendiri, setidaknya 1.434 orang dilaporkan tewas akibat perkelahian yang berkaitan dengan kartel narkoba.

Secara keseluruhan, 34.552 orang tewas akibat perkelahian antarkartel narkoba di Meksiko.
