Jepang - Pemerintah Jepang telah menyetujui rencana untuk membuang lebih dari 1 juta ton limbah radioaktif dari pembangkit nuklir (PLTN) Fukushima yang rusak ke lautan.

Seperti dilansir AFP, Selasa (13/4/2021), pemerintah Jepang bersikeras bahwa pelepasan air limbah radioaktif ini aman karena air dari PLTN Fukushima itu telah disaring dan diolah untuk menghilangkan seluruh elemen radioaktifnya dan diencerkan. Misi ini akan memakan waktu setidaknya beberapa dekade ke depan. AP Photo/Lee Jin-man

Sekitar 1,25 juta ton air limbah radioaktif yang telah diolah, selama ini disimpan di dalam 1.000 tangki besar di Fukushima Daiichi -- lokasi melelehnya reaktor nuklir akibat gempa dan tsunami dahsyat nyaris satu dekade lalu. Dalam responsnya, otoritas China menyebut rencana Jepang ini akan membahayakan kesehatan masyarakat. China juga mengeluhkan keputusan Jepang untuk membuang limbah radioaktif ke lautan 'tanpa mempedulikan keraguan dan perlawanan dari domestik maupun asing'. AP Photo/Lee Jin-man
