Nanti dokumen (dari AS) tetap penting, makin lengkap bahan makin baik," ucapnya.
Surat dari Komnas HAM untuk Obama itu ditunjukkan Nur Kholis kepada wartawan di Kemenko Polhukam, tapi Nur Kholis menolak untuk dilihat detail materi dalam surat tersebut.

President Barrack Obama
The White House
Washington, DC
Dear Mr. President,
I'm writing to you on behalf of the Indonesian National Commission on Human Rights, which at the moment working on the settlement of past human right abuses. As you may be aware the Indonesian government has a commitment to settle past human rights abuses including the tragedy of 1965-1966 through the best way which is establishing truth and reconciliation commission. The guarantee of the right to truth requires data and information from any credible sources.
With regard to the past human rights abuses stated above, Komnas HAM is receiving a letter from stakeholders that consider to the data and information access related to the situation in Indonesia 1965-1966. The data access would assist in establishing truth and a reconciliation and consensus process in Indonesia, and encourage the Indonesian government to settle past human rights abuses.
We are now waiting to request that your administration may release all US government files relating to the political violence that occurred in Indonesia from September 1965 through 1966 directed at supposed "communists", in which hundreds of thousands and possibly over one million Indonesians were killed. As you know, the mass killings and related political repression in Indonesia in 1965-1966 has received newfound attention both domestically and internationally, with the release of two films the act of killing and the look of silence, the first of which was nominated for an Oscar award in 2014 and the second of which was nominated this year. It has been well documented by US and Indonesian historians that US government personnel were in contact and appear to have collaborated with Indonesian government officials and personnel, and their agents, to identify "suspected communists" who were then subsequently killed.
We believed that release of such information can held assistant in encouraging reconciliation and consensus within Indonesia, and invigorating efforts by the current government to create a special commission to focus on the events of 1965-1966.Β
