Jakarta - Taman Nasional Death Valley di California baru saja mencatat rekor menjadi tempat terpanas di bumi akibat gelombang panas yang tengah melanda wilayah AS.

Taman Nasional Death Valley di California, Amerika Serikat pada Senin (17/8/2020), mencatatkan suhu hingga 130 derajat Fahrenheit atau 54,4 derajat Celsius.

Suhu tersebut menjadi temperatur paling panas yang pernah terekam di Bumi, menurut Badan Cuaca Nasional Amerika Serikat.

Gelombang panas di Amerika Serikat hingga kini masih membentang dari Arizona hingga Washington.

Gelombang panas diperkirakan mencapai puncaknya Senin (17/8/2020), dan menurun pada akhir pekan.

Namun, cuaca panas masih akan berlanjut sampai setidaknya 10 hari setelahnya.

Akibat gelombang panas, sejumlah kebakaran hutan terjadi di California.

Badan Pengendalian dan Pencegahan Penyakit (CDC) mengatakan gelombang panas rata-rata dapat menewaskan lebih banyak orang ketimbang cuaca ekstrem lainnya di AS.

Selain menyebabkan pemadaman listrik, panas ekstrem dapat membuat penerbangan terhenti, aspal meleleh, dan bagian dalam kendaraan mengalami panas berlebih hingga ke taraf berbahaya.
